Binance Labs has officially rebranded to YZi Labs, stepping away from the Binance brand to reflect its independent growth and expanded investment focus. While continuing its dedication to advancing Web3 technologies, YZi Labs will now also explore opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology, underscoring its commitment to fostering innovation across multiple industries.
Leadership Changes and Strategic Direction
As part of this transformation, Binance founder CZ will maintain an active advisory role, offering mentorship to project founders and guiding the firm’s investment strategy. In addition, Ella Zhang, the former head of Binance Labs, returns to lead YZi Labs. Under her previous leadership, the incubation program successfully supported projects such as Polygon, Injective Protocol, CertiK, and Dune Analytics.
Ella’s return brings a renewed focus on strategic investments and a founder-centric approach to propel YZi Labs into its next phase of growth.
Expanding Investment Horizons
YZi Labs’ investment strategy will now encompass three core sectors:
- Web3: Continuing to support blockchain innovation and decentralized applications.
- AI: Exploring the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in various industries.
- Biotech: Investing in emerging biotechnology solutions that align with innovation-driven goals.
Despite its expanded focus, YZi Labs remains committed to backing projects with long-term potential, offering continued support through its incubation programs and the BNB Chain Most Valuable Builder (MVB) initiative.
Revamped Incubation Program
The organization is set to reintroduce in-person incubation experiences, offering a 12-week residency designed to foster collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on development for startups.
“Rebranding to YZi Labs signifies our ambition to push the boundaries of innovation beyond crypto,” said CZ. “With Ella’s leadership, we aim to support visionary founders who are building the future in Web3, AI, and biotech.”
Ella Zhang added, “I am excited to return and work with founders who are focused on long-term impact. Our mission remains the same: to empower visionary entrepreneurs and push technological boundaries across multiple sectors.”
Continuity and Future Prospects
YZi Labs reassures its existing portfolio companies that they will continue to receive the same level of support, with no disruptions to current initiatives or partnerships. The transition marks a strategic evolution, positioning YZi Labs as a leading global investor across multiple high-growth industries.
