Cryptocurrency Explained and How to Invest
Details
My name is Alex Pogos. My degree is in finance, with a BS in business administration from Fordham University. I’ve also worked in IT for a fortune 100 company and launched my own company which was acquired in 2016. During the downtime of running my company, crypto was just coming onto the scene. Since crypto is a combination of finance and technology, I was instantly intrigued and wanted to learn more about this exciting new field.
From 2014 on, I’ve basically had exposure to every single type of blockchain based asset, from coins on said chains, tokens, non-fungible tokens, staking, mining, minting, burning, etc.
The terms and explanations of terms can really go on for hours, but what I’d like to discuss in this presentation is what a distributed ledger is, what the original bitcoin founder’s vision of crypto was, versus what it is today, and how various other protocols have seen been trying to fill the original mission statement. By using different methods for addressing these fundamental criteria, the “crypto” which is usually what institutional and retail investors see, are valued accordingly.
There are 3 things to keep in mind when it comes to crypto.
#1) It is unforgiving. There is no going back.
#2) It has nothing “hidden” or “anonymous” about it. You are 100% exposed. And so are the big players!
#3) All blockchain technology, and by extension, cryptos are valued by their utility; with respect to non-momentum-based trading strategies.
