Coinbase Welcomes Four New Political and Economic Leaders to the Global Advisory Council

Coinbase is announcing the addition of four new members to the Global Advisory Council: Former U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), Chris LaCivita, President Donald Trump’s winning 2024 co-campaign manager, Bill Dudley, former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and global development and international finance expert Luis Alberto Moreno. The newest additions bring experience working with world leaders across the political spectrum, and will support the Coinbase executive leadership team as the company navigates new political and regulatory realities.

“Coinbase is fortunate to have some of the brightest minds across finance, tech, and politics supporting us through the Global Advisory Council,” said Faryar Shirzad, Coinbase Chief Policy Officer. “Our four new members are world-class leaders in their respective fields and we look forward to their contributions as the world enters a new era for crypto.”

New Coinbase Global Advisory Council Members:

Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) is a former Senator, U.S. representative, policy, and business expert. She has worked across the aisle on key legislative accomplishments like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Law, the CHIPS and Science Law, the Electoral Count Reform Law, and more. A native of Arizona, Sinema served as a local senator and representative before joining Congress. She is the President and CEO of the Arizona Business Roundtable and is a Distinguished Professor of Practice at the Arizona State University School of Social Work.

On joining the Global Advisory Council, Sinema said, “Americans believe in innovation and financial freedom; they want a financial system that reflects the reality of modern life and ensure they control their own financial futures. I’m excited to be part of Coinbase’s commitment to modernizing finance and being the world’s most trusted crypto exchange.”

Chris LaCivita is a seasoned political strategist who helped lead President Donald Trump’s winning 2024 campaign as co-campaign manager. He is currently Chief of Staff for the Republican National Committee. Prior political advisory roles include serving as political director at the National Republican Senatorial Committee for two cycles and as a partner at FP1 Strategies. LaCivita is a former United States Marine and Purple Heart recipient.

“The crypto industry deserves better than what it received from the previous administration. I look forward to working with Coinbase as our country transitions into a new political era–led by the first-ever pro-crypto president, and most pro-crypto administration and Congress in history–to help make America a crypto leader on the world stage,” said LaCivita.

Bill Dudley brings decades of experience as a federal economic regulator, most recently as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York where he served from 2009 to 2018. He is currently a senior adviser to the Griswold Center for Economic Policy Studies at Princeton University and Chair of the Bretton Woods Committee. Dudley also served as executive director of the Markets Group at the NY Fed and was the Chief U.S. Economist at Goldman Sachs.

“More and more consumers are looking to crypto as a way to engage with the broader financial ecosystem,” said Dudley. “I believe we’ve reached a pivotal moment in crypto’s evolution where smart political leadership and trusted, thoughtful business counterparts like Coinbase can ensure it is integrated into our financial system in a safe and beneficial way for Americans,” Dudley said.

Luis Alberto Moreno is a Colombian native and expert in global development and international finance. Currently a Managing Director at Allen & Co, he completed a 15 year tenure as the President of the InterAmerican Development Bank Group in September 2020. Before joining the Bank, Moreno served as the Colombian Ambassador to the United States from 1998 to 2005. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, as a member of the International Olympic Committee, DOW, NUBANK, and other economic councils.

“Crypto removes burdensome financial barriers for people across the globe. I’m looking forward to working with Coinbase to unlock crypto’s potential and help increase economic freedom for all,” Moreno said.

The Coinbase Global Advisory Council was created to bring together accomplished leaders with strategic insights to advise Coinbase’s executive leadership team. In collaboration with members of the Coinbase Asset Management Academic and Regulatory Advisory Council, which comprises former regulators and industry experts, the Global Advisory Council actively contributes to advancing Coinbase’s vision of ushering in a new era of the internet through crypto and blockchain technologies.

This is the dawn of a new era for American leadership on crypto. Nearly nine in ten Americans believe it is time to update the financial system. Coinbase looks forward to the guidance and insights the new members of the Council will provide as it navigates the changing landscape.

Sinema, LaCivita, Dudley, and Moreno join former Congressman Kendrick Meek (D-FL); former Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa; former Mayor of Atlanta Keisha Lance Bottoms; former Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL); former Defense Secretary Mark Esper; former U.S. Homeland Security Advisor Fran Townsend; Dave Urban; former Senator Patrick Toomey (R-PA); former Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH); former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer and First Secretary of State George Osbourne; and John Anzalone, founder of Impact Research Polling.
